-May start work on the abandoned Afa bridge soon

Years after the commencement of the construction of Igbogbo-Bola Tinubu – Igbe Laara Road project, the construction company handling the project, HiTech Construction Company, has extended the construction of the road to the Igbe Laara axis of the project.
THE IMPACT gathered that the company, which has been working non – stop for a few months after the contract sum was reviewed and substantial sum paid by the Lagos State Government, started clearing the Afa to Igbe Laara axis as a prelude to start construction work.
70% payment of the reviewed sum, which is ₦25,206,311,934.17, was actually paid to the contractor, with the completion date put at 18 months from April this year.

Motorists that spoke with THE IMPACT said that work began on the axis on Saturday.
Our reporter, who visited the axis today, reported that many makeshift stalls and other hindrances to the construction work have been cleared off the ever – busy Igbe Laara junction, where HiTech machines were seen clearing the ground surface.
Construction personnel were also at the Afa bridge which has been left unattended for years with serious negative effects on residents and other road users, especially when it rains.
They were seen installing iron around a section of the bridge pillars.

Recall that the representative of Ikorodu Constituency II, Hon. (Dr.) Aro Moshood Abiodun (AMA) who is very instrumental to the review project, payment and the resumption of the construction, last month informed THE IMPACT in a report that HiTech Construction Company assured him that the company would be moving down the bridge pre – cast, which are being assembled at its Ibadan yard, to Afa for setting.
The road project actually started December 2017.
